Diary of a Google Intern (Amsterdam)
Posting on the experiences and adventures with Google

Introduction
Hey everyone!
Kicking off with the first post on my new blog..
Recently I came up with an idea to record my internship experiences in one of those beautiful and sturdy Moleskine diaries. Initially just for memory's sake but then I thought well why not share all of these random and sometimes useless thoughts (let's be honest) with the rest of the world? Hurray for spamming my brainwaves on the interwebs...^^
Google is an unconventional company. No-one can predict what will happen in the coming months ahead as I set foot in this unknown domain. It is hard to say what topics will be covered on the blog (i.e. experiences). At the very least I feel like looking at:
Whether the infamous "lava-lamp and fat-boy" work culture is also present at Google Amsterdam;
What the intern perks are;
What exactly a(n) (associate) marketing manager at Google does;
What makes Googlers tick?
Moving on, I figured that a first post should also include something about what i am going to do so..here we go.
The internship is called Associate Product Marketing Manager Intern and is basically a track to become a Marketing Manager on one of or a series of Google's long list of B2C or B2B products. I expect to be doing things like campaigns, market research and strategic planning but not of that is set in stone yet. The duration of the internship is 6 months so plenty of time to get a good impression.
Last Friday I got off the phone with the head recruiter in London and set the final start date which is going to be June 20, 2011 (in two weeks precisely OMG). I am excited and thrilled to go but so far I actually know very very little about the work that I am going to do or the product I will be working on. As soon as I receive an update on this, I will probably post this on the blog so stay tuned. (now is a good time to bookmark my site if you want) (feel free to add me on LinkedIn; just mention that you read my blog; link below))
I do take this blog seriously and appreciate to stay in touch with 'my readers' so feel free to drop me a comment below. I will try to answer your questions (if any) as long as it won't conflict with any confidential materials (of course I won't be posting that anyways).
Most of the stuff on the blog will be linked to my Twitter account: http://twitter.com/jornskf
So without much further ado, I hope you have a great time in the coming 6 months on this blog. I know I will.
